Created with Anna Bailey and Zoe Higgins for Fringe 2018, with thanks to a Creative NZ Kakano funding grant. A giant puppet street theatre piece on the Wellington waterfront, featuring Crone, Trash Monster and Fishy. Crone is the guardian of Fishy, who is inquisitive and mischievous. Crone must banish the Trash Monster before it endangers her pet! A parade performance featuring live music and lots of audience interaction. With thanks to our collaborators Martin, Jen, Leda, Sam, Claire, Dexter, Ruby, Josh, Anton, Kura, Ken, Esme, Gerard, Daniella and Mikaira.
The Shadow Chateau
The Shadow Chateau is a shadow puppet show in a tipi originally created by Stephanie Cairns and Anna Bailey. It has appeared at several festivals and would love to do more!
A Gathering in the Forest (February 2018) The Shadow Chateau made an experimental appearance at indie music festival A Gathering In The Forest (Eyegum music collective). Festival-goers were invited in for late night improvised shadow play while others watched from the outside.
CubaDupa: The Tallest Tower (March 2016) A woodcutter wants to build a cottage in the forest, but someone else got there first and claims he's the king. The woodcutter is quickly co-opted in to the king's foolish plans, but thankfully the creatures and trees of the forest are on his side.
CubaDupa: The Moth and the Moon (March 2015) An ordinary guy is led on a journey by a streetlight and a moth gets stuck in the moon. Also performed at Out of the Suitcase Puppet Festival in October 2015.
